Mitsutoshi & Tomoko Takesue, Organ, Fukuoka-shi, Fukuoka, Japan: Charlotte Perriand

Mitsutoshi & Tomoko Takesue, Organ, Fukuoka-shi, Fukuoka, Japan: Charlotte Perriand

A building named “organ” is located in Ohashi, a town a little farther out from the center of Fukuoka City. Mitsutoshi and Tomoko Takesue, the owner couple of the concrete edifice, designed it themselves 30 years ago as a land readjustment project had been carried out in the town according to a series of elevation works for a nearby Nishitetsu train station. Now they use the third floor as living space and the fourth floor as their own shop while leasing the first and second floors. Their shop shares the same name as the building, organ, and has attracted a lot of design-conscious people from all over the country. Currently such design lovers often says to each other that the shop is one of the must-go places in Fukuoka because the owner couple’s sense of beauty is just outstanding. Before this interview, the pair told us that they do not take off their shoes even in their living space. Besides they created a model apartment called “Enough Room” to provide more opportunities to experience “the life in shoes.” What makes them devoted to such a lifestyle? We became so curious about the reason and eager to ask them about it.
